Slipper Bearings and Engine colour for a TA

Hi all,
I'm rebuilding my MPJG engine and have two questions.
It currently has white metal bearings and I want to convert it to slippers. Can anyone tell me what to use.
I have been told that MGB or those from a 1964 Datsun (Nissan) Bluebird will fit. What do you think?
The colour to paint the engine? The last time, the engine reconditioner painted it MGB Red.
The gearbox is Norfolk Green and I have a suspicion that Morris engines were painted green in 1938 --- at least that was the colour of the one in my Morris 8/40, which was an unrestored car when I owned it in the 1950's.
I think that MG TB and early TC's were painted gray, so why not green for a TA?
Any correct detail will be gratefully received and faithfully applied.
Phil
