TC Pedal shaft removal

Hello All:
Any ideas for removing the pedal shaft? I have removed both split pins, soaking with Kroil and heat in alternating cycles. Using a brass drift and a big hammer from the right frame rail access on that end of the shaft? No luck so far. Body and trans still in the car.

Thanks,
Brian

Brian,

You've used all the methods EXCEPT - drilling a small hole and gradually making it larger until you can twist the shaft out. The shaft is toast already - you'll need to replace it. One of our members was making new shafts with a grease fitting to enable you to grease the pedals...can't remember who that was right now.

Thanks Gene.
That may come to be. Would have to lift the body to accomplish that however as no straight line access to the shaft for a drill.
I'm thinking maybe cutting it out in pieces if my present course fails to gain traction, and punching out the 2 stubs left over .
It should not be in this tight.

He made super greasable replacement shafts, I don't know if he still does or have one in stock still.
Good luck

Finally came out....although in three pieces with a sawsall. Had to burn out the center section with a torch! I like the idea of a greaseable shaft but I'm going to go with the standard shaft and just drill the pedal bosses and new bushings for grease fittings or I just may leave them alone and not modify anything. The original parts lasted 60+ years, so I won't have to mess with them again.
Thanks for the encouragement,
Brian W.

When you do get it apart you might think about installing grease fittings on the pedals whee the shaft passes through. Drill and tap the pedal and then a small hole in the bushing. I did this with my car and just give them a quick shot when ever I grease the car.
