Accessory dash socket

How are the dash center panel sockets oriented? Red (pos) on the left and Black(-) on the right? I've seen them reversed from that. Seems the picture books are no help as I've seen them both ways on those fancy restored cars too!

Also, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the dash panel or reference me as to where to look?

Thanks,
Brian W.

I believe the red goes on the right. I don't know why I believe that but it's how I set them up on my car.

I have had to cover my accessory socket with tape to prevent a short with the keys on the keychain that hang from the ignition switch lock. Does anyone else have this problem? Perhaps the sockets are not wired correctly?

I've never had that problem. The plastic protrudes out far enough to prevent anything from shorting the sockets.

Here's one diagram: http://www.tcmotoringguild.org/techinfo/TClinic-25.pdf

Google MGTC wiring diagram and a number of sites come up.

Well, from that it appears the ground...red.+ goes on the left as viewing the panel front.

Anybody else have an opinion on this? How about those with unrestored cars? How was it done from the factory?
