Has anybody got a preferred make and grade of oil for the above use please ?
Over here in UK all the oil designations seem to have changed....in old money, I think I need EP 140 grade but nobody seems to do it without my needing a bank loan !!

Hi Paul , have you tried Classic Oils in Aylesbury. They are at many classic car events and have Millers EP140 gear oil available at £22 for 5ltr or £7 for 1ltr. A friendly and helpful company. Web site is www.classic-oils.net.

Over the past years I have been using Penrite oils. For both the diff and gearbox I used Hypoid 80 or 90 plus some Molybond. They also make a Mild EP 110 gear Oil and whilst I have not used this, it comes highly recommended too. I had the diff set up professionally and he suggested that I could look to extending the time between changes. For my sins I have not changed the oil in the diff for 30,000 miles, this including a 4500 mile trip from Western Australia to my home in Sydney. I see that there are several similar products being sold in the UK. I also found that changing from 1st to 2nd gear was a bit smoother, especially after the car has been driven hard and the oil thins.

Many apologies for the delay in replying. Thank you both for your help and some 80/90 about to be poured in following the clutch replacement. It should work better now that I have replaced what looked like valve springs with the proper thing !!
Now to sort out the heavy steering.
