Anybody have a solution to loose or stripped differential center section bolts? When I attempt to tighten the nuts I am not able to get the center tight without several of the mounting bolts turning? Must be a solution out there. I had heard of someone replacing the mounting studs, which apparently are really bolts coming front inside the case, with bolts which go in from the outside, but if the threads in the case are stripped....does one use oversize bolts and re- tap the holes in the case?

The only way I have found to solve your problem is to pull the diff out and replace the bolts from the inside after cleaning and re-tapping the threads. Use a mild lock tight on the bolts when you replace all the old ones with new bolts. You will be amazed at how solid the result will be.

I have heard that you can substitute metric cap screws instead of using the stude and nuts...any experience out there?

So, what if some of the holes in the diff housing are stripped? New housing or what else?

I would drill out the holes (carefully so they are straight) and put a threaded insert in there. Heli-coil or equivalent.
