1937 MG TA timing chain cover

At the top of my timing chain cover is a male pipe fitting. Can anyone tell me what attaches to it?

Hi Martin,
my MPJG engine is strictly standard and does not have a pipe fitting on the timing chain cover. I cannot hazard a guess as to what one is supposed to be for.
Re your other posts; I have only just put the floor and seats back into my car, but if you do nor receive any answers, I will be happy to remove them to give an answer to your question.
The return spring for the handbrake; seems logical that it would be the same as the TC. But I cannot remember it being as shown in the photo when I put the floors back into place.
Let me know what you decide and I will trace a pattern of the seat base and include it with the floor plans.

Thanks Phil. Managed to get some patterns off a TA in Auckland a few weeks ago so I am OK but thanks for your offer. Re the fitting on the timing cover, will probably blank it off and leave it. The return spring is still puzzling me as it may be different on a TC. Can you see the one on yours.
