I have a '48 TC with a TD block, the oil pump I think (?) is a TC . I took the oil pump apart for cleaning etc, and have a question on the refitting of the Relief valve located in the top half of the pump.
Question: Is the seating sleeve/guide (at the bottom of the spring) supposed rotate or not? I found that when I tighten the big brass bolt head up snug it will not turn. When I loosen it off a bit it will turn, but of course if the bolt head is a wee bit loose there is a high chance of an oil leak.
If it is NOT supposed to turn, there are two holes in the bottom of the sleeve/guide so which way are they to be orientated? And why would there be "fins" on it such as you find on a water pump>
Thanks, I'm really stuck
