I am reading that according to the Australian Queensland MG car club the inside of the battery box was originally shiny black!? As well as the underside of the battery cover and the underside of the toolbox covers. This is all new to me since I always thought they suppose to be the body colour for the later TC's .. Anybody has an opinion on this?
Baffled in Calgary...

I can’t speak for the other 9,998 MGs, but:
TC0279 and TC5147, both deep flute bulkhead cars originally had flat black paint on the inside of the battery box. The inside of the toolboxes (underneath the felt) was same color as the bulkhead. Lids were same color as the bulkheads (Lighter green/gray (Fiat Grigio Oslo) for 279, a darker green gray on 5147).
Don’t know what shallow flute bulkheads were done like.

I wonder why the different color inside the battery box. Maybe it was a special coating to resist battery acids?

TC0820, with a deep fluted bulkhead, came with black inside the battery box but the inside of the lid was greenish gray as was the inside and lid of the tool box.

I didn't like the look of black so mine will be dark red felt, The tool box will be the same. My car is going to be Reno red. So far only the bulkhead is painted and fitted.
