Police MGTA

Post by jddevel » Tue Feb 02, 2021 8:27 am

Was it a feature of the MGTA used by the police to have a lockable glove box? If so anyone know if there were specific items stored in them?

It's actually an interesting question. I don't know the answer but I'd bet the contents of the glove box would vary from precinct to precinct, assuming there was any "standard" equipment in there. Perhaps MGs On Patrol would say something about this?

Did the TA police car even have a glove box door?

Mike Allison’s ‘Magic of MG’ shows the interior of a prewar police car but it doesn’t specifically say that it is a TA.

Notice the shift knob is not as used on the TA. Might that be an XPAG gearbox making that car a TB?

Interesting picture. I see they moved the speedometer over to the right and eliminated the tachometer.
My TA does not have a glove box at all.
