Question about shock absorber links

We removed 9875's wheels to replace the tires and discovered the front shock absorber links are different. One has a cotter pin and one doesn't. That's not right, is it? Should we replace one or both?
Thanks!

Originally there were no pins. People add them sometimes to keep the link from walking out of the bushings. The second photo shows a bushing that needs to be replaced. It isn't easy but it can be done at home. If you decided to do it, order an extra bushing.

I replaced the bushings in my dampers and drilled the links for a cotter pins and placed flat washers on either side of the bushings. There is no issue now with bushings moving.

Is it safe to drive until next Fall? It isn’t loose.

I would say yes. If it comes out, you will lose the function of that shock but that's all. Providing it doesn't get hung up on something, which in my opinion is unlikely. Just don't let it get to metal on metal because you don't want to damage the shock arm. New links are cheap, arms aren't!
If you're worried about it, you could always just remove that link. The ride will get a little more bouncy but it won't be dangerous. I've driven many miles without any shocks on the front of a TC and it wasn't a big deal. I haven't driven with only one front shock though, so I don't know what that would be like.

Thank you. We’ve only driven her twice and new wheels, tires and tubes should be arriving today. We just want to get out there and drive!
