TA Brake Pedal Bracket

Got the clutch pedal off ok.
Now something doesn't seem right.
I got the split cotter pin out from the brake pedal side of the shaft.
I thought the shaft would come out.
It doesn't move.
The pedal bracket is held on to the chassis by 3 bolts, 1 round head rivet, and 2 welded gussets.
Is this right, or has somebody added the welding?

I am inclined to think the welding is added later, because I found welding on the hand brake shaft.
Somebody must have been a brutal driver.

Welding is factory. Pic of mine on TB. Second pic is hole on outside of chassis looking inboard. The shaft will slide out but carefully clean the shaft. 3rd pic is what was sent to me when I had similar question you asked. It shows the proper order of washers, pins and pedals.
Well, 3rd pic only. My pics too large but same as yours.

Ok thanks for the confirmation. The weld appears to be factory work after all, like an afterthought when they found it wasn't strong enough with just the U-bracket.
I'll go to work on getting that shaft out. It is probably just rusted.
Here is the source of that drawing. It is describing a modification to add a grease fitting. I think I will do the same.

Here's an older thread on the subject, and another reference to the above image only from the MG T Society:

Thanks, and the photo in the older thread reminds me that I have a broken weld at the clutch pedal stop bolt. I can fix that.

Can anyone confirm that the TA had this additional welding. Mine has none of it but I can see that the clutch stop bolt will be useful and the extra bracing invaluable.
I'm looking forward to getting it back together, those pedals are going to feel so good.
So far I upgraded the shaft to 16mm means I didn't have to rebush anything.
I have grease nipples in the pedal forgings.
How bad is that?

What is your chassis number?
Mine is TA1271.
If yours is earlier than mine and you have no welded gusset braces, and mine does, I am inclined to think they were added after the factory realized there was an inherent weakness there, that the pedal bracket would get bent from hard braking and clutching. I would add the gussets.

Thanks for that Rob.
Mine is TA 1952 The rivet has been drilled out as well. Im assuming a previous owner cut it all off . there are new bushes brazed in as well but they were out of line. Ive made new and refitted them square plus rewelded the gussets as per photos shared on this amazing forum.
Ive gone up from 5/8"to a 16mm shaft.
I have a space problem with the 8" clutch operating lever in conjunction with the TC type chain links fouling the exhaust.
so I fabricated a TA?B type solid rod. all fits nice.
