Hello all,
nice to can be in the forum as a German Kraut.
I restore a MGTC 1946, Ex Lancashire police car with the registration number
GTC 984.
Now I want build the hood on the car and I have questions:

The hood and the persenning is from Brown and gammon in black mohair.
Is the end of the hood nailed or tackered on the 3 parts of wood (middle, left, right)?
Can someone give me the messure from the wodden foodplates to the top of the frame when the hood is closed?
I have a new tube and there are no signs where the frame is screwed in the left and right side?

Hello Uwe. I will also be fitting a new hood to my TC when I receive the new body tub (presently being built for me). It would be interesting to find out if the best way to fit the hood is the way it was done originally.

Ray, hoods were fitted in a production method on TCs, TDs, and TFs.
The hoods were actually attached to the hood frames at Coventry Hood & Side Curtain Company, then delivered to Morris Bodies Branch for installation onto the body tubs.
I believe, but don’t know for sure, the sequence of steps were:
1. Front wood bow covered (foam strip on bottom, grommets placed on fabric peg holes, fabric tacked to bow and trimmed).
2. Hood frame clamped into a jig to hold the all pieces in the correct position (mounting brackets, front wood bow, rear floating bow).
3. Hood tacked to front bow.
4. Hood and straps attached to main bow with 2 screws, dished washers, and square nuts.
5. Hidem strip tacked across front of wood bow. Factory photos show that the ends of this strip were not covered with end caps.
6. Snaps installed at the back two corners.

The completed units were then shipped to Bodies Branch along with assembled side curtains. On the production line, hood frame brackets were screwed onto the tub sides in the proper place, the frame raised and set onto the windscreen (wing nuts tightened to the posts), and the back of the hood stretched tight and screwed to the tub rail along with the straps.

Hi Uwe,
originally the hood is nailed to rear wood rail,
I put clips on, so you easy detach the hood to fold it back, and you can easy put luggage in the space behind the seats.
To fold back these modern mohair hoods it is not an easy task, the original canvas was much thinner and easy to fold.
I don´t understand what measurment you need - pictures tells more than 1000 words.
