t-series grill shell identification

Post by Rickwilson » Mon Nov 29, 2021 10:37 am

I understand that the hole for the handcrank is fully opened at the bottom on TC's. I've been told that TD's have a partially opened handcrank hole. I have seen TC's & TD's with fully closed circular handcrank holes. does anyone know the correctness of these 3 different grill shells?

To my knowledge there are two. The TC is open on bottom, TD is closed. There are also some aftermarket shells out there that may have that area beefed up a bit. A lot of TC shells were replaced back in the day when they cracked at the bottom, and the replacements were the newer, stronger TD type.

Okay, so apparently the units with fully closed circular crank holes are aftermarket reproductions. thanks for the info Steve>

Or are TD shells installed on a TC - not uncommon either.
