Any recommendations for a supplier for a hood for my TC

I bought a stock Moss hood in Double Duck(and side-screens). Quality and fit was good, although a little more care from me in fitting would have produced a slightly better result.

i too bought a moss hood kit and was very pleased with the result. the side curtain
kit is another story. the big problem was once the proper fit was achieved, some of the stitching
around the rear curtain glazing ended up being in the viewing area. big disappointment. tried to
order replacements without the stitching, but was told that would be a custom order which they were
not taking. ended up putting a strip of black tape across the area to hide the stitching holes.

Basically read their website a chat with the company. Price was competitive and although not asked suspect they may supply Moss anyway.

I've been happy with the quality of Moss tops, I'm sure others make good products as well. Moss has their own in-house upholstery shop, so as far as I know they make their own.

I have nothing adverse to say about Moss. (Not always competitive) I did feel in this instance that dealing directly with a company that manufacture solely car weather gear and carpets would be prudent. Will have to wait and see whether I was right or wrong. At least the finished article is made in the UK- even if the material comes from China, hopefully not. Incidentally perhaps Moss USA have a different set-up which includes inhouse upholstery.

I could be wrong, but I believe I was told that Moss tops, curtains, etc. were made by Robbins which is an excellent quality top manufacturer here. I put these products on my TC years ago and was generally pleased with them. A friend of mine was a Moss dealer in those days so there was a financial benefit to consider also. Today you have other choices to choose from which is a good thing also. People complain about this or that, but it is pretty nice to consider that a 75-year-old vehicle of such small numbers still has pretty good parts availability.

You may be right about Robbins. I seem to remember buying Robbins stuff from Moss back in the day. Also, good point about Moss USA versus UK. They could very well be doing things differently. I have no experience buying upholstery from Moss UK.

i have had a Don hood on my car for thirty years and, apart from fading a bit, still works fine. This may be due, however, to the fact that it is rarely if ever erected outdoors. It is always up when in the garage to keep its shape though. One thing I would do differently is to not buy double duck. It is too stiff to fold neatly behind the seats and stands no chance of folding as the booklet shows. I feel Wigan could be better in this regard and would take up less of your precious luggage space. Don't forget that for true authentucity twin rear windows were fitted to early cars. They are difficult to see out of but if you rarely erect it, that is of no consequence.
