Green gripper brake linings

Post by JonnyP » Thu Aug 04, 2022 11:10 am

Just for the benefit of anybody who might search on the subject of brake linings in the future.

Although the hydraulics, etc of my TC were sound the braking performance has always been scarily hopeless. So I finally decided to do something about it and have fitted Green Gripper linings, as recommended by Tom Wilson in a previous note.

I can’t believe the difference it has made. The brakes actually work, in fact they’re very good and I now have confidence that I can stop when I need to. The braking system is stock throughout, including steel drums. So glad I saw the recommendation for Green Gripper.

They've been popular for a few years but I have yet to see any reports on longevity or how they perform on very steep mountain roads. I'd be interested in any first hand experience in that regard.

Please can you advise me as to a supplier of Green Gripper linings in the U.K?

Thanks,
Ray.

I got mine from Saftek in Cleckheaton nr Bradford. They can only fit linings to old shoes, but I dispatched them on a Monday and they were returned to me with the new linings on Wednesday of the same week. Fantastic service I thought.

I have looked on their site and I can't see mention of "Green Gripper". Perhaps they go by a different name?

I called them initially and chatted it through. They suggested adding a note inside the box when I sent them with all my contact details on, requesting Green Gripper Woven. Process worked perfectly, they called me when they were done, I paid and the shoes were back the following day.
