Door Striker plate
Door Striker plate
The striker plates on my TC are in good condition apart from the rubber "bushing" which are perished but are not available as separate items. Is anyone aware of a source of bushing that is available that would do the job please.
Re: Door Striker plate
Please can you describe the bushings to which you are referring?
Re: Door Striker plate
The striker plate has at either end of the "threaded shaft" what appears to be a rubber "fitting" which in my case is perished. I assume it`s there to aid vibration etc. Don`t want to remove existing as I`m unable to find replacements.
Re: Door Striker plate
I had a similar problem with a door snubber on a different car. I pushed out the central part and removed the decayed rubber. After cleaning up I suspended the centre back inside the body and injected High Modulus Black RTV into the cavity originally occupied by the rubber. A fiddly job but so far it has worked well.
Re: Door Striker plate
I`ve currently fitted some additional washers to provide more rigidity having had to adjust out the striker to get the door to close as tight as possible.

I haven't seen a source for the rubber, but you could probably find some suitable material and make them, or even use a slice of an old inner tube rolled up.
