I'm fairly certain this is an original TC oil filter and retaining clamp; looks like a casting?

As far as I know the original oil filter was a stamped steel unit. It looked like the one pictured below, although I can't remember the original brand and color offhand. (Photo from Sports & Classics website) I've never seen a one-piece aluminum unit like the one above.

In the good old days, Moss sold aftermarket aluminum ones that split in the middle and used a replacement cartridge. I have some NOS canisters and elements for them available for sale if anyone is in need. (Also pictured below)

I currently have a couple original type oil canisters for sale on EBay.
The Vokes on is nice, as that's the brand most used by MG and Morris when building new engines in the 1940s.
