I'm currently restoring my handbrake cables. One came with the car the other was missing. This is a used replacement. Would anyone know what the size is for the fitting which threads into this? It's very close to 5/16", might be a pipe thread, perhaps. And is there a SAE equivalent that I can thread to?
Thanks In advance.

Handbrake Cable Grease fitting
Re: Handbrake Cable Grease fitting
Good morning. I have just been replacing my handbrake cables, I thought that I had lost the fitting that screws in here , in the interim I fitted a grease nipple which screwed in perfectly. I will check at breakfast time but I am pretty sure it was a stock 5/16 BSF. I think you have done well to find a used cable, I bought two new ones from Abingdon UK but had to modify them before I could fit them
Re: Handbrake Cable Grease fitting
Bryan I have double checked the thread and confirm that it is 5/16 BSF. To connect the oiler tube here you need a double male barrel nipple, one end is 5/16 for the fitting , the other end thread from memory is smaller to receive the female thread of the fitting on the end of the oiler tube
Re: Handbrake Cable Grease fitting
Thanks, I will adapt if I have to, to SAE North American for the rest of the rig. I know the tubing is 3/16", the original side is complete but I will need everything from the fitting you mention out to the grease zirk. The threaded end which receive the nut for the adjustment is 1/4BSF 26, and I had the die to clean up the threads, fortunately.
