Tach drive cable

As I work on details of completing TC8126, I installed the tach drive cable to the drive on the rear of the generator.

But when I get the the tach side, the inner cable is extending about 1-1/2'' beyond the end of the outer cable fitting. Could this be correct?

I doubt the inner cable is incorrect to the outer armor (they were in a box of parts with my car, sitting since 1964) but I guess its possible. The other possibility is i switched the cable assemblies and used the tach cable for the Speedo drive...but its installed and works on the speedo... which cable assembly is the longer of the two?

Thanks

Tach cable ends look to be quite a bit longer at the ends. Check out the photo's on Abingdon Spares site here: https://abingdonspares.com/search?type= ... +cable*+TC*

So, looks like the tach cable ends stick out quite a bit more than on the speedo.

Here is a picture of AS speedo cable:

Note that the cables speedograph-richfield sells (TC tach cable is 12 BP and speedo is 17 BP) are black vinyl clad--no armour. Also, they show the TC, TD and TF tach cables are the same part number.

By coincidence, I just ordered a speedo and rev counter cable from Speedograph Richfield yesterday. They do actually do original looking ones as well as the black clad ones. They are a little more than the black ones, but still a lot cheaper than going to the front line TC parts suppliers.

I wonder if someone made up this armour cable....it seems about an inch short.

According to Specification 259 the tacho cable should be 48” long.
