Post by Dan Rushen » Tue May 10, 2016 1:16 pm

Can anyone recommend company to re-chrome and repair grill surround. Some dents and cracks need attention. Thank you. Dan Rushen TC2979 Fareham UK

Hi, I've used a company Classic and Chrome Ltd
Unit 8, Hinckley Business Park, Brindley Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 3BY, tel 01455 637921

They are v good and recommended by Steve Baker. They have repaired and chromed two radiator cowls for me.
They may be too far from you though.
Cheers
Ian

I assume we're talking about the car radiator shell Dan? I had mine repaired and rechromed by S&T Electroplate, along with a few other parts. The shell had the classic wear holes in the sides from fretting against the apron, a hole for a screw to replace the bottom centre slat fixing and a few slat mounting studs missing.

This is a before picture of the parts I asked them to tackle....

...(an 'after' shot just shows a lot of shiny reflections).

S&T made a very good job of the shell (and of everything else). Something with large relatively flat areas like the shall can be difficult to get a perfect surface on after rechroming; the polishing tends to leave ripples in the surface which show up clearly in the reflections.

Anyway, for what it's worth, here's the rechromed shell being trial assembled.

Thank you for both replies. Very helpful. I don't mind a bit of travel to get the job done well. I visited Raj Patel at recon & return in Leicester last year who made a great job of my shocks.

Thanks for the advice. I have contacted S&T Electroplate in Bristol, and thanks Nick for this recommendation
