I want to fit a water temperature gauge to my TC. Where is the best place to fit a temp probe? I need to get a new radiator at some point, and can it be fitted to the radiator? I would appreciate any advice, thank you

Dan-
There is a place for one in the radiator, up top and in the back. There should be a brass hex head plug in there. When installed there the probe sits under an inch or two of coolant. Some say if the system runs low, and the probe is exposed, it will give a normal reading as the engine overheats. The TF I believe had a stock sensor up around the thermostat. I installed a probe where that brass hex plug was, and a (black faced Smiths)gauge to the bottom edge of dash, to the right of steering column. It is all rather dull reading, as the needle slowly goes up and then stops around 75 degrees (same as the thermostat rating) only going higher when going up a mountain or long hill, or under heavy foot; then it goes back down to 75. Never seen it go above 85 or 90 degrees on a hot day, and that is with an accurate needle checked with boiling water. I can see why they skipped the temp gauge at the factory. The same (ether filled) probe (mounted elsewhere, of course) and gauge can be used to accurately give oil temperature, by the way.
