Does anyone have the dimensions for the damper spacer plates? They look pretty simple things to make but I don't have any dimensions.

Do you mean the damper mounting bracket? I don't remember any spacer plate, but that may be my faulty memory. Here's one on eBay:

I know Abingdon Sapres has them also: 25 061 and 25 061a. Seems to me they would be a lot easier to buy than make. If you insist on making them, I can probably find a pair for you to copy. But why...

Hi Tom. I think there is a flat plate with 2 holes that goes between the chassis and the front dampers but I could be wrong. In pictures I have seen it looks to be about 1/8"" thick.

Just measured mine, but they are already on the car, so hard to measure accurately, but the measurements are as follows

Thickness - 3/16" (painted)
Width at top - 5"
Width at bottom - 4.75" (i.e they slightly taper top to bottom)
Height - 2.5"

Obviously, the holes are drilled to match the holes in the dampers. They are positioned such that the top and sides of the plate are flush with the maximum dimensions of the dampers where the holes are.

Feel free to come and have a look if you want. By the way, there is a big classic car show in Ilkeston on Sunday this weekend - I only mention it because I think that you live roughly in the area. At least one TC is due to attend. I'll be there in my kit car (large blue 7 style car)

Steve

Thanks Steve. Thicker than I thought. By the way I still plan to drop in on you after work however they have had me working in Europe recently and I am not finished until the end of the month (just home for a few days now so may try to get to the show you mentioned). Cheers. Tim

Maybe a year ago there was a fellow on Ebay selling those backing plates that he was specially making to include a (hard to notice) method for tie downs for trailering. I think it involved using a plate that was identical on three sides to stock ones, and the one side had been lengthened to allow an oblong slot, through which you could run a typical nylon tie down strap, to accommodate an easier 4-point trailer tie down. It looked like a clever idea.

Tom, not sure the ebay listed item linked above is correct for the rear dampers. Those shown in the Moss catalog as for fronts look correct, and are all but hidden when all is in place. http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProd ... exID=32800

Thanks Duncan, that sounds like a cleaver idea. I will give it some thought before I make them.

Sorry, I was indeed thinking of different plates.
