Excelsior tyres

G,day.A while back someone was enquiring about original Dunlop tyres and was mentioned that Exelsior were the same.
This is all that is available over here in Oz.
I was going to fit 19x4.75 as cheaper as common to more cars but anyway stuck with original size.
I first took them to a motorcycle shop but bloke there could not get to pop out on the rim and burst a tube at 60lb so he said so contacted agents who advised that could be his compressors volume.
In the end took them to a local tyre dealership and they fitted no problem so not sure what the problem was but nice to know that ordinary tyre places can fit.
My Rims are not original but of Italian manufacture but do have 4 original along with my spare.
These I will get sand blasted at $50 each and paint and replace the 2 broken spokes I found.
If I lived in the US would probably go for new wheels but ones on my car are ok as to import would be too expensive.
Hope pictures post ok. Yes will one day paint inner bracket cream as I,m sure someone will comment.

60 PSI is double what they should have! I wonder why they had so much trouble.

When I removed the old Dunlops some years ago, I had to place the deflated tire/wheel combo in a vice and work around the wheel squeezing the tire away from the rim. A pair of tire irons took them off nicely. They were replaced by Excelsior's of the proper size and now have done over 13,000 miles with occasional rotation. I found that at 30lbs inflation the fronts tend to wear a bit faster in the middle and would suggest maybe 25 lbs. would prevent this. Suspect maybe another season or two and I may be replacing them with same as they seemed to work well for my general driving requirements.
