Door latch and side screed latch fixing bolt thread size

The side screen latches and door locks are fixed to the door by screws that go through the wood and into metal plates with captive nuts.

Does anyone know what thread size these are supposed to be as I'm going to have to make my own plates up. Also, are the side screen latch threads the same size as the door lock threads?

Hi Steve,
The bolts for the door lock and latch plate are 3/16 whit., not bsf. I have a pack of 4x1 1/2" and 6x 2" for the latch and lock.
As they are an unusual size I ended up buying 100 of each. I think I have a couple of packs left after MG Live. Let me know if you want one.
Re the side screen plates I used m6 and m5 captive nuts in the wood and was able to get stainless raised head bolts.
Cheers Ian

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the information and the offer. Could you drop me an e-mail with a price for a pack for each side plus postage please and I can sort something out. Alternatively, I may be passing by in a few weeks, in which case I could pick them up and give you cash.

By the way, how's your car going - you were hopeful of getting it on the road for this summer when we met.

Steve

Hi Steve, £3 for the pack of ten bolts (6x2" which need to be cut down to approx 1 3/4" for the door locks and 4x1 1/2" for the latch plates.)
Yes car first on the road yesterday after 44 years and a 6 year rebuild! Photos on the Octagon Car Club Facebook page. Been today for pre MOT (safety check) and apart from adjustment to one trackrod end and an oil leak by the filter all ok. Although I'd forgotten how challenging the steering was. Hopefully once trackrod adjusted and tyres tracked and tweaking of the Tompkins kit it should be much improved!

Hi Ian,

Well done on getting the car on the road - I'm years away from that yet.
Thanks, I'll have a pack of bolts for each side if you have two left. I may well have to drop my daughter off at Birmingham Airport in a couple of weeks time so, if convenient, I could pick them up then. I'll let you know the likely timing as plans develop.

Hi Ian,

I have to be at Birmingham Airport at about 6:30pm on Tuesday 11th June, would you be around if I were to call in to collect the bolts after that? I'll drop you an e-mail as well.

Steve

Steve, I have a set of sidescrren plates yet to be fitted. I'm only up the road in Royston, Barnsley if you want to pop up and rummage in my stuff I think you may find what you need. Email if you want my address. (norman@frenchblat.com)

Hi Norman, I have been following your build blog with great interest, so I would be very interested in calling in one day to have a look at the finished article and also to see if you have any left overs that you are looking to get rid of (in exchange for beer tokens of course) that might be of use to be.

My diary is a bit of a mess at the moment, but I'll drop you an e-mail in due course to sort a date and time.

Steve, I have quite of bit of stuff left over. I'd rather give it to someone who needs it than sell it, if you see what I mean. Email me when you can get up, we're just North of Barnsley in Royston.
