TC carb linkage

Re-assembling my carburettors to the engine after rebuild I notice that the jet lever long arms and the cable bracket have all been cranked down to nearer a vertical position on the car. The fact that the degree of bend is different for each leads me to suspect that this is not an original feature but has been done at some time in the car's history. The engine is out of the car so I can't check if this has been done clear some obstruction, but perhaps someone can tell me if the two levers and the cable bracket should normally be flat and un-cranked?

These piccies I hope illustrate the problem..

In both views the front lever is arrowed green, the rear lever red and the cable bracket yellow.

The bracket looks wrong but could be the camera angle.

Look at this, it's the correct bracket, cable and arms: http://www.lotus7news.co.uk/TC03-17a%20(1).jpeg

or a better view look at 17th March on this page: http://www.lotus7news.co.uk/MG-TC-MAR16.html

take time to adjust the connecting rod between the arms. Fit one end and then adjust the ends so they are both "lose" when the cable is in. It's too easy for the rod to be too short or too long which will keep one jet down when the cable is in.

Thanks for the links, but I can't see any pics that show whether or not the cable bracket and the long arms of the jet levers are cranked inwards towards the block?

Ask Joe Curto to weigh in on it. Or Doug Pelton.. Lots of experts out there.....

The arms and bracket are straight and have no sideways bend in them.
