On my list of things to finish post renovation is to fit the side screen box which wasn't fitted when the body was off.
Will this metal box go in from underneath without raising the body?
Thanks.

I don`t think so - the box is wider then the chassis and is bolted to the chassis,

As mentioned, its wider than the chassis, but its only bolted to the chassis with the rear two mounting bolts. Tricky to access but you may get away with just taking those bolts out, slackening the four the go through the body irons and then just raising the rear of the body by a couple of inches without taking it completely off. You could then slide the box into place as it only overlaps with the plywood rear section by about an inch. You may need to temporarily take the box sides off first (if you have them) though. This would mean taking the fuel tank off as it masks the screw heads.
I can picture in my head how I would do it, but difficult to put into words. Happy to lend a hand one day if you like.

Steve, Thanks for the offer but I've no idea when I'll get around to it. I have lots of other jobs to do first. I have just said to Dirk that I will try and raise the rear of the body by removing the rear and centre bolts and loosining the fronts. Amazing how great minds and idiots think alike.... I'm the idiot by the way, it was me that left it off.

hi Norman
On first TC FOREVER book at page 171 and 172-173 and 177-221-231you can find the technical drawing
and photos
are a mixed structure partially in wood and partially in metal- easy to make by yourself
if you are a woodworker
if you need I can scan the pages and send by email
On my car I have find the right and left sides in position - and also the metal panel
so i have acquired few marine plywood top and lateral panels from YOUR usual
supplier see the BODY wood section at page 3-4-5 on web catalog
others parts (squared pieces)find at my usual wood shop
Probably with the two Ends panels and the metal panel and one or two strips of wood connected outside from the car, you can slide it in position from up to down in the rear of the car
Cheers

Sea Runner, I have a copy of TC's forever so will look at the pages you recommend.
Whe I get the car up in the air I'll try to get the metal box in from the top and then from the bottom. If it won't go I'll raise the body.
Thanks

I haven't doubts that you have a copy of TC forever, but during the move from F to GB
sure a lot of pieces is magically disappeared
Probably Lynne can help a lot in the sidescreen box squeeze in operations

Maybe I'll just leave her in the back to hold the sidescreens.
