Hub steel plug
Hi again. I see that the hubs should have steel plugs that cover the hole that gives access to the spindle split pin. I don't have any plugs, are these necessary and if so could I make them? Is the wheel that retains them as I cant see any threads in the hole?
Thanks
Tim
Thanks

Re: Hub steel plug
Tim;
I have a 49 EXU that I restored starting in 1975 and finished 1985. My car's hubs have the plug, three of them fit and tighten snuggly and one of them screws in but becomes loose as it reaches the 'top' of the threads. It stays in, maybe held in by the hub.
I have not explored the cause and have not tried to get new screws. I would bet that some one of the suppliers has them as the supply of 'new' of replacement items has increased greatly.
I have driven my car 13 thousand miles since finishing the restoration.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Joel.

Re: Hub steel plug
Thanks Joel. On closer inspection I can see a fine thread in the hole but not sure of the condition. I will contact Moss to see if they supply them.

I would try Doug Pelton at From the Frame Up for a definitive answer to almost every TC question.

Tim;
From the frame up catalog the piece you want (I think) is part number MPL050 listed on page 38 of their catalog(11th edition).
