XPAG Crank

Hi all - has anyone got any experience of installing a crank with a 0.060" regrind? The crank on my engine has 2 cracks and the only replacement I can find without buying new is as above. Cheers. Tim.

I haven't heard of anyone running a crank at 60/60. I've always been told 30/30 is the safe limit, but would love to hear otherwise since I have a 30/30 crank in one engine that needs to be ground again.

Spoke to my local MG authority today who is currently fitting a crank upgrade seal to my TF (he was also working on a J2 at the time} and when referring to my cars crank he said it was 10/10 however he had know cars that had had there crank down to 100/100 believe it or not although he did say he wouldn`t have driven it hard or far.. He had had a surplus of bearings that size but had eventually sold then some years ago to Brown and Gammon here in the UK. They still show bearings at 60/60

Time for a new crank. Steve Baker sent a brand new one to me in North Carolina for about $1850.00US. It arrived in 4 days.

Check this out, A buddy of mine had a 1926 straight 8 Packard Crankshaft saved by this method and it's still going strong. Don't know anything about the cost but it may be worth a phone call to discuss. Flame spraying

Would further add to my earlier comment that I had the crank on a Lagonda re-built using what they called submerged welding. At the time I recall I was warned about "spray" methods failing with delamination taking place.

I have a friend with two magnafluxed cranks who is thinking of selling them...not sure if he’s going the ebay route or not.
