Long Shot Request

Post by Lynn Dykgraaf » Fri Dec 03, 2021 8:26 am

Hello to all and Happy Holidays as well.

This request is likely to be met with chuckles and smiles but hear goes anyway.

I am working to bring back and correct TC1943. It is a running driver but has much ignored maintenance and a few alterations that make me scratch my head. That work is underway. At the present time it has a TD pressed steel valve cover that looks like it was pulled out of some field after laying there for decades. I know 1946 factory original alloy covers are essentially unobtainable, but I would be satisfied with a reproduction or period aftermarket version if one might be found that is for sale. I have a good lead on a correct TC pressed steel cover and am looking into its condition but correct for the car is alloy so the search continues.

I am on the northwest coast of the U.S.A, Lake Stevens, Washington State, so shipping from overseas would be part of the equation.

Reproduction alloy valve covers are available, and are virtually indistinguishable from the originals. Original steel covers pop up on eBay from time to time, as do repro alloys. Might be a place to start.

Thanks Steve,

Watching appropriate sites regularly. One reproduction valve cover is consistently listed on-line but when contacted the seller does not actually have one for sale and has not removed the listing. I am thinking that working within the TC community might help me avoid potential issues in trying to complete this task.
