I don't know if this is correct, but it's how mine have been since day one.

Thanks Steve. Are they clipped in place on the bearer plate?

Yes, there is a clip that holds both of them together against the plate. Looks like a flattened metal rat clamp. Never mind the zip tie, I was on the road and they were rattling.

I often wondered how to correctly mount as well. When I fitted my new heat shield I looked at some photos and after straightening pipes up and re bending they ended up exactly the same length 1st go.
I had no idea how they finnished at the bottom as they vibrated so may fit a similar bracket.
By the way The vapour lock is now gone for ever but think it was more to do with the fact that front piston on carburettor was frozen solid shut and car had been running only on one S.U.
Hopefully before and after pictures are attached

picture of how messy my over flow pipes used to be. Thought I would also straighten up braided line while I was at it but it cracked inside . Very dangerous as could not see damage, just the smell of fuel spraying every where. Luckily motor was cold.
I ended up replacing all hoses from fuel pump as well as all radiator hoses as was easier to do while apart, discovered there was no thermostat so now have a TC that runs in summer with no vapour lock and sits constant 70 degrees and whats more runs on 2 carbies.
I did send a post on that before I think but here are some more pics I found.
