After 28 years, I am selling my beloved 1949 MG TC roadster. The only
reason it is for sale is that I am having the “been there, done that”
feeling, and I’d like to move on to other things.

This car has never had the body restored, although it was painted twice
that I’m aware of. It has been out of the weather since approximately 1959.

Absolutely everything that could be renewed on the mechanics of the car
has been done. I have receipts for all the work

Complete engine rebuild about 25,000 miles ago, with new forged steel
crankshaft, Crane Cam, new pistons, all new fasteners, new valves, new
bearings, line bored, balanced, new clutch. At the time of rebuild, the
engine was bored and sleeved to 1466 CCs, (TF size)

Starter and generator both rebuilt within the last 20,000 miles.

All the suspension has been renewed, with new front leaf springs, new
spring pins, new shackle bushings front and back, new shock bushings
front and rear.

Steering gear correctly rebuilt with new bearings, new sector shaft
bushing, new seals, and new sector pin. Has Tomkins Kit.

All steering linkage joints disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled. King
pins and bushings replaced, and new thrust bearings made to suit.

Cooling system done, with new radiator core, new water pump, new
thermostat, and new hoses.

Fuel system done, with re-built TD carburetors, new SU Fuel pump, and
all new fuel lines from tank to carbs.

Brakes rebuilt with new Alfin brake drums from Bob Grunau and shoes, new
old stock wheel cylinders, and rebuilt master cylinder. Silicone fluid
used for past 24 years. New clutch and brake pedal shaft and bushings

All dashboard instruments rebuilt by John Marks of Vintage Restorations.

Driveshaft straightened, balanced, and fitted with new universal joints.

Rear end rebuilt with high-strength tapered half-shafts, new ring and
pinion gears (4.625:1), and new bearings and seals throughout.

New tires and tubes, about 4 years ago. Wire wheels re-spoked, painted
silver, trued and balanced.

Car has the correct headlights, side lights, tail lamps, horn, and
mirrors. It is fitted with the four-spoke “Brooklands” steering wheel. It
has a Moss leather interior kit, which has had only the seat coverings
fitted over new foam bases.

The top, manufactured by Robbins in 1982, was fitted about 8 years ago,
and has a small repair, although it is functional. The side curtains
have been recovered a few years ago.

The car drives extremely well, and has been used, for the past few
years, for a couple of “road trips” each summer, to places like the
Oregon Coast, the Okanagan wine country, and up into the Cariboo through
Whistler and the Duffy Lake road.

A joy to drive, this car is perfect for someone who just wants a great
vintage driving experience. It is not a show car by any means, although
it would be a great project for someone who’d like to restore the body.
The body sheet metal is rust free, the wood has never been re-done, and
probably needs some work.

I do have a great inventory of spare parts, including engine blocks with
bearing caps, cylinder head, crankkshaft, starter, generator, water pump, fuel pumps,
distributor, carburetors, camshaft, wheels, inner tubes, brake cylinders
and drums, two spare axle centre sections, etc.

I am asking $22,000 US for the car with all the spares. It is in proper
condition to drive home, even if home is across the continent.
