Unable to find 8.0 x 1.0 bolts for motor stand-HELP pls

Post by pleask » Mon Oct 06, 2014 1:18 pm

I have been to many stores in town, no one has any 8.0 x 1.0 pitch bolts (4" long) that I need to hold the motor of my TC to the engine stand! I ordered some from one shop, "They will be two weeks" they said... four weeks later nothing.

By any chance does anyone have two spare they could send me so I can get my motor mounted! Or, know where I can get any from?

Thanks, Pat

I've ordered many from McMaster-Carr. They have everything. I don't know if they ship to Canada, but I usually get my orders in 24 hours here in California. If you can't get them from there, I'll see if I can find a set to mail up to you.

You may be able to use spare studs from an XPAG motor. Screw them into the engine and then put nuts on the other end. Another approach would be to get longer bolts than needed with a different thread but enough plain shank. Cut off the existing thread and cut a new thread using an M8 x 1.0 die (if you have access to one)

Wow, great idea on the studs idea thanks! I guess my last post/reply did not take.. I've ordered the bolts I need from that company Steve suggested. But as normal, they will not ship to Canada... arrrg! So I shipped to a buddy of mine in WA and he will reship. Again thanks al! Pat
