WG: front shock absorbers for TA

Post by wolfgang.thaller@avl.com » Wed Dec 22, 1999 2:23 pm

Hi MG T-type fellows !

Im looking for a pair of MG TA front shock absorbers. A friend of mine has a TA with TC shock absorbers and want to change over to the original TA dampers. He told me if he will get the original TA dampers then he will give me his TC dampers for my TC. At the moment on my TC there are mounted non original telescope shock absorbers and this would be a great opportunity to get the original ones.

Your help will be appreciated

Cheers and Merry Christmas and a happy and successful year 2000 to all of you on the list.

Wolfgang, if you want real shock absorption on your TA, you would be better off fitting Andre Hartford friction shocks from Sports and Vintage Motors. These are period correct and work much better than the original Luvax. This is what I have on my TA. However if you want the originals, they are very difficult to find but I have heard that someone is reproducing them now. Graham Brown would know if anyone does as he rebuilds the Luvaxs.

Interesting is that Luvax P6 double acting piston type shockers were available as a racing option from the factory. I believe these looked a lot like the TC shocks but maybe someone on the list knows for sure.
