TC wheels

Just to introduce myself, I bought a very tired TC6468 in 1966 and after driving it for a year decided it deserved a proper restoration, so in '67 it got under way... (we worked in black and white in those days)

...and this is the current state of progress....

I'm targeting 50 years as a reasonable rebuild schedule

The car came with 16" wheels all round with 4" rims at the rear and 3.5" at the front - and no spare. I suspect this set-up was for some sort of competition driving in a previous life but is probably not ideal for general road use? Apart from needing a good clean and refinishing, these wheels are in very good condition and I'm loath to junk them. A full set of new 19"s would be very expensive and I'm wondering if a compromise of 19"s on the front and a pair of the 16"s on the rear would be viable - and if so, what would then be best as a spare?

Any opinions on this or suggestions of other options would be very welcome.

I will give you my opinion only for what it is worth. A standard TC with Brooklands screens, the windshield folded flat and painted 19" wheels and 4:50 tires is without question a piece of sculpture. Adding 16" wheels with wide tires is something much less than that, yes I understand about vintage race cars, etc.

I have 16" wheels on a TC set up as a vintage racer and 19" wheels on a more stock TC. I like the look of both, neither set of wheels looks out of place on the cars. The circumference is almost exactly the same so there would be little difference in top speed if they were swapped out on the same car.
