Some advice on timing an XPAG engine with a Pertronix negative ground system?
Thanks

Re: Timing a Pertronix
Ed, I've always timed mine as I would an XPAG with points. If I remember correctly it's set 30 degrees BTDC at 3000rpm.

Re: Timing a Pertronix
Set the crank to roughly 10 degrees BTDC
pull out the #1 spark plug, reattach the plug wire to it, and ground it to the engine.
Loosen the distributor clamp
Turn on the ignition power
rotate the distributor clockwise until the plug fires
Lock down the clamp
start and time the car with a dial-back timing light to verify about 35 degrees total timing
