Rebuilding XPAG 9204
Re: Rebuilding XPAG 9204
I just bought the two galley plugs from FTFU. The front steel one was much deeper into the threads than Steve’s and covered over with a very hard sealant I had to chip out. Maybe JB weld. After exposing the screwdriver slot, they were too tight and I didn’t want to chew up the slot. The machine shop got them out.

I looked at Steve's and thought that it should be in a little deeper so that the mounting plate can sit flat against the block. I was going to put a bit of thread lock on mine to get a proper seal and so that it can be removed again without the problem that you had.

Very pleased to have stumbled upon this post as l was in the process of reassembling the front of the engine for the second time chasing an oil leak. Having replaced all the gaskets and seals on the front of the motor l found that l still had a slow leak behind the generator with the engine running. This l discovered from reading the post was due to a missing front oil gallery plug which cannot have been installed at the last engine rebuild. Happily my engine is now oil tight!

There is more truth in that than people realise.frenchblatter wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 9:10 amTC9800, that's not good, you have switched off the anti rust system
