Fitting studs

What if anything is the preferred product to use when fitting manifold or head studs please i.e. Locktite?

No locktite is necessary. Personally I don't feel that anything is necessary really. If you're concerned with them seizing in place, use a bit of anti-seize compound. I normally put a drop of oil on the threads just for good measure. Once the nut is tightened on the stud, it will not come loose on its own. It is a pure clamping force. Just remember to not bottom out the stud in the hole. Thread it all the way down and then back off a tiny bit.
