Please can someone explain what I need to do to get a photo posted on this forum. I keep getting a message that the images I want to post are too big. I tried cropping but it doesn't work.

Re: photo size
Images must be 1mb or less in file size, and 1600 pixels or less in physical size (longest side)

Re: photo size
That may be the case but I am asking what I need to do to copy and paste from my photos on my computer. I am not very tech savvy so need some help.Tim Jackson wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 1:19 pmImages must be 1mb or less in file size, and 1600 pixels or less in physical size (longest side)
Re: photo size
Locate the image on your PC and drag it into the message box. A link will appear below the message box with a choice to Place inline or delete file. Click on Place inline and the photo will be inserted into your post. Now click on Preview below the message box to verify that the picture is there.

Re: photo size
If you have any photo editing software, use the resize feature to shrink it a bit. There are online sites that shrink photos for web use also. The first one to come up in a Google search is https://picresize.com/

Re: photo size
If you don't have any photo management software, I suggest you have a look here:
https://www.wikihow.com/Resize-a-JPEG
And use a free image resizing website, which does it all for you:

Re: photo size
If you know how to resize pictures using the programs built into most computers, it can still be tricky. Generally I take a picture using a low resolution setting on camera/phone -- with the actual subject in the center of frame. Then I download it to computer so I can re-size it by eliminating all the outer edges, leaving just the center subject matter. Usually works on this site.

Re: photo size
If increasing the size limit of photos would solve the issue, that can be done. But we have to set a limit somewhere so we don't fill the server with massive files. We're trying to keep operating costs down since the group runs primarily on donations and badge sales.

Re: photo size
if you use windows
you have the snipping tool
open the pictue
and take a snip with this tool and store it
this is the way i do it, easy and fast and you can snip only the area you want to show
with the handy you make a screenshot
open the picture in the gallery and press at the same time loudness and off ( you have to look to the operation manual)

Re: photo size
I am on an Apple MacBook. I have tried using the crop facility and lift and drop the photo onto the desktop then onto the forum but that doesn't work.
I have tried to drag it to the message box directly from my photos but it doesn't stick.
The 'place in line' and 'delete file' messages don't appear.
I usually use 'postimage' photo hosting site but this forum won't accept the pictures from there either.

Re: photo size
To use the drag and drop feature, click the "Full Editor & Preview" button. From there you have more options available, including dragging your photos into the reply box.
Photos hosted on the Postimage site should display just fine. Can you tell me what happens when you try?
I enabled the quick reply box as a convenience, but it seems like it may be causing more confusion than it's worth since it has limited features.

Re: photo size
When I use postimage it still rejects the image as being too big. I have cropped the photo down but no good, It rejects from my "photos" or from the desktop. I am not tech aware so if it is not simple and straightforward I tend to just give up. Shame really because I have had no such problems on any other forum.

Re: photo size
I've just doubled the size limits. Hopefully that clears up any issues.
Direct attachments or linking to hosting sites should both work equally well. However the best way to display images is to attach them, rather than linking to hosting sites, because it means the image won't disappear in the future if it's deleted from the hosting site or if you change hosting providers.
