TA Luvax Shock Absorbers

Post by phil cassie » Wed Dec 16, 2020 11:44 pm

Hi All
After accepting telescopic shock absorbers for many years I would like to go down the road of fitting Luvax Shock absorbers to my TA.Yes I have seen them advertised for sale occasionally.
I believe several different models were fitted to many makes of cars. Can anyone tell me the model number of the one I should be looking for?

Thanks in advance Phil Cassie

Hi Phil,
You TA is a late chassis number. Standard fitment would have been rotary Luvax with pressed on Arms.
Earlier rotary Luvax had arms retained by cotter pins.
There are a number of cases of late TA’s with pressed on arms on the front rotary Luvax and rear rotary Luvax with arms retained by cotter pins and vice versa.
TA2312 had this arrangement of different arm retaining. Not sure if it was just replacement parts.
There are some TA with the larger rotary Luvax fitted but I’m not completely convinced these were a factory option. Most likely a fix to keep the car going.
The factory option for TA and TB was Luvax P6, these are similar to but should not be confused with the Girling PR6 fitted to TC’s.
Luvax P6 are harder to locate than Rotary Luvax.
Do you have the shocks or are you looking for a set. I passed on a set about a year ago as I could not afford them. I could try to find the seller again and find out if they are still available and / or put you in touch with him. They are in Australia though so shipping will reduce you to tears.
Regards,
Graeme Louk

G' Day Graeme
Thanks for the reply to my request re Luvax shock absorbers.I was un aware of the alternative P6 availability as an option.Idid see them fitted to a TA but as several features of the car were incorrect Idismissed them as have been retro fitted.Ihave owned the car for about 20 years and it was fitted with telescopic shock absorbers when I bought it,The teles work well but I would like to return it to original. I dont currently have Luvax's and it would be great if you could pass on the name of person that offered you the Luvax. Iam in Melbourne so excessive freight costs arn't the issue.
Regards Phil
