TC Lucas Regulator Swap?

Would a 5 post Lucas regulator (control box) operate with a TC generator in place of a 9 post regulator? I realize this would result in 4 less connection posts but I'm interested in the voltage regulator function only. Would it work as a 9 post would? Thanks.

Absolutely. I used to run a 5 post with an external fuse box when I first got my TC. Just had to move a few wires around to install the 9 post. I'll try to find my notes.
