I use Permatex Right Stuff on just about everything. They sell a 1 minute and 60 minute type, but I don't notice a lot of difference between them as far as applying. You can buy it in an aerosol dispenser that makes it really easy to apply, and lasts just about forever before drying out, unlike the regular tubes.

It's usually the gasket that is the problem, not the sealant - it is very hard to get a cork gasket to seal properly. See mgtrepair.net for the preferred silicone rubber gasket that does NOT leak.

Hylomar universal blue or equivalent non hardening Permatex gasket dressing (85420) is about as good as it gets for paper or cork gaskets. If that does not work, then you should try Tom's gaskets.
