TC headlight stone guards

Post by hanko » Sat May 22, 2021 6:07 am

I have TC # 7057 and I would like to install wire stone guards on the headlights. 7" stone guards have been all I can find at a reasonable price, 8" stone guards run in to many hundreds of dollars. Does anyone know of 8" stone guards at a reasonable price?
Has anyone installed any size stone guards on either a TA,TB or TC? If so, how? I am open to drilling into the headlight ring . Thank you for any reply.

Hi- I wanted a chrome wire mesh stone guard after suffering the casualty of my foglamp lens and the co$t of an original replacement. I found one that looks convincingly vintage at Lowbrowcustoms.com an off road motorbike parts supplier. I'm pleased with the price, quality and fast service. I realize you are looking for 8" guards. These folks might have them, or someone else in that business dealing in the same sort of parts near you. I imagine there are off roader spotlights in the 8" size range that need guarding.

Adendum- I did not need to drill any holes. The guard was supplied with clips that I bent to fit between the shell and the rim securing the guard so I can remove and have it stock without alteration.

I apologize for further addendum- I used a bit of stainless safety wire to secure the guard to the bottom clip so I wouldn't loose the guard while driving.

I'm not sure if this helps and I don't know where they came from originally, but here is a set that require drilling four holes into the rim. I'm planning to put these onto TC7018.

I had an accident with my SFT 462 fog lamp which resulted in the lens being broken. I was lucky to find a similar lamp "for spares or repair". The lens was a suitable replacement and cost me just £9. I have since had the lamp re chromed and the divided reflector re silvered and I shall be finishing the restoration soon.

I also found a pair of genuine new old stock 8" headlamp domed lenses for £15.

There are bargains out there but not many.

I know this thread is nearly a year old, but this was my solution. They are exactly the right size and all I have to do now is create attachments. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/363587607577

That right there, is the most creative solution I've ever seen. Well done!
