UK paint codes (new)

Post by bloodysalmon » Tue Sep 14, 2021 10:26 am

I've tried searching for this subject without success so may I ask those in the UK ...
what are the current paint codes for the TC's that we can buy today? In particular I wish to know the 2-pac and or 'water' based paint code equivalent to 'british-racing-green' ?
It woul dbe very useful to collate all colours into one chart so everyone can determine the best choices when a complete new paint job is required. I have no original paint to x-reference and wouldn't want to create 5-10ltr of paint based upon previous 75 year old paint anyway. I've tried in the past but any none UK paint ref/codes just doesnt work for me ta.

Having recently had the same problem I found it was down to going to a local paint factors who gave me a number of paint manufacturers sample cards in the range of colours I was looking for. There was an enormous amount in the various shades each with their own manufactures code- in my case blue. The two local suppliers in Plymouth UK I dealt with were able to make up aerosol cans that I was able to use to achieve what I wanted. I spent nearly £100 in samples admittedly on different colours before arriving at what I was happy with. Whether it`s actually the original shade of blue I can`t tell but I like it.

I would give NTG a call. They supply all the colours for our cars and may ( I say may ) be able to help.

Personally, I don't think it matters that much. If you are trying to blend into an original paint finish, the new paint will stick out like a new thumb. If you are doing a re spray then just go with the shade of which ever colour you are happy with. After all these years no two cars are the same anyway.
