Bulkhead identification/confirmation

Post by bloodysalmon » Fri Sep 24, 2021 2:58 am

I thought this would interest us all as its one to ponder over ...
What do you think this bulkhead is from? I think it is original and hasn't been messed with either as all the holes are clean and sharp., except the 2 small holes above the cupboard box and the single 1 above that ... which when felt from underneath there is a sharpness that perhaps not original. So now I'm thinking this is TA or TB but not TC with the larger rounded oblong hole. Sorry for the orientation but I cant get it turned 90d left!

Despite having what appears to be the accelerator arm slot It's not TA or TB since the side of the battery box is clearly visible. TA and TB batteries were located at the rear of the car. Apart from the 'slot' the bulkhead looks very TC with the horizontal slot for the carburettor cables and the large hole for the wiring loom that would emerge under the voltage regulator. On the TA and TB the regulator is on the other side.

The bulkhead looks to be late TC. Shallow flutes and location of holes are the identifying points. Obviously some holes added.
This would be from a TC with chassis number 5500 or later.

Thank you for your input. So I'm agreeing with you Tom as it all works for TC and that's why I have it. I've/we have established that there are 3 additional spot holes but why would there be the longer oblong slot hole be there and was this or would this be usable if it was on a TA chassis? All the rest was as I thought to be TC but was just querying the slot ... anyone have a photo or plan of the TB hole setup. Referencing TC's Forever only gives an accurate plan of the TC, whereas the TA one doesn't look right ... and no TB.

Here is my TA bulkhead.
As you can see, the tool box is different.

um, not thought about modifications made for the Police cars ... well, I suspect that's it as my HTD166 chassis TC2686 was indeed a police car. Anyone got any photos of the police cars engine bays at all?

1946 police TC bulkhead - TC0999. It's my understanding that each police force specified their requirements, and some chose standard TCs with no modifications.

Just to round out this discussion, the large oval hole is on my TA, and the purpose is the accelerator linkage passes through it.
Here you can see the throttle linkage as found.

I see this is not true of the standard TC, but possibly some early ones may have had the early type linkage using left over TA/TB parts and these could have been used on a few TCs? Just a guess.
