MGTC gearbox

Post by jddevel » Tue Nov 16, 2021 6:55 am

Here`s a "how longs a piece of string" question. What is a MGTC gearbox worth? Is Ebay the place to go to auction it. If only I was in the US I see one recently sold for over £1400!!!!!

Depends on condition, and how complete it is - shift remote, bell housing, rear flange, etc. If complete, I would venture a guess that a ratty one needing rebuild and possibly some gears is worth about $500. Rebuilt and ready to install I would expect to sell for around $1500. These are US prices based on US market, so it may be different where you are. For just the gearbox, no remote or bell housing, I'd expect the prices to be more like $350 to $1200. Just a guess on my part.

The TC box is the preferred box for racing a T series. So TD folks buy them up to replace the TD box.

The TC box is much sturdier. If you have had both a TC and TD box apart there is no comparison to the strength of the TC internals.
