Hi
while i am waiting for some parts to continue with the rebuild of the electric ...
i want to change to two function sidelamp, direction lamp and sidelamp
in englang i can get one for 18 Pfound + shipping + tax and i have to wait for
a difficult thing for me
so i took my computer and the old yellow glass
after 20 Minutes it is ready and now i have to wait while the resin printer does his job
will cost me 50 cent ;-)

found today:
Switchback LED lights are also known as dual-color LED.which are dual-function LED bulbs or LED strips that stay lit as white in parking/position light mode and flash amber when the turn signals are used. These are specifically designed for front turn signal lights or daytime running lights.
with this lamps you only need one socket, there are led s available with a relay so only one led is shining

will be interesting to see the result, i hope i have a answer in 2 hours

happy
the glass is printed, not polished in the moment, but i like it like this
funny what you can do today for our cars if you spent some time to learn 3d design ...
printer payed twice

you see the little points, thats the support for printing,
i will change the direction, then this points are outside and i cann grind them, perhaps a little bit better, 0,5 gr more resion to print it
;-)

was not perfect and i thought it could be done better
printed now other direction , see picture
made a littel mistake but with a little bit grinding it was ok
next time i will make a little longer support
clear paint on both side and now it is perfect for a self made part
you see the difference
the second one like glass
now i am happy and can go to bed
and dreaming about my car

That is impressive! I didn't realize 3D printing could make such a nice clear material.

now i have two of them
freecad is a online game for me
so someone is looking TV i am learning freecad

now i can make some letters on the surface of a bowl
so if someone would steel my car and doesn t know it ....
fantastic what you can make with a freeware program when you learn to use it

also i have profed if i am able to print the cjr3 case with my photon
it is possible but it will take a lot of time more then my CR-10 fdm printer
but the result will be much better with resin
i am stupid but i think i need a bigger sla printer, have found one, but the buyer wants more then i want to pay
so i have to wait some days
with the bigger printer i can print the parts laying on the printingtable not like the photon where it must stand
so i need lees resin and it is much faster, also the bigger printer is 3 times faster, so not 17 hours, perhaps only 2 or 3 hours

the first run with the controller cover was a mistake
today i reset the printer plate and then printed a jar with my initial
my first try
as you can see you see very little
so the letters have to be wider and deeper
but it works and it can be printed

the letters are only 3 mm high, so really small

it's fantastic, with such a printer you can make your dreams come true

second run from the regulator cover, 9 hours with my printer, but i will see in 2 hours if all ok

Franz-
3D printer would sure be nice to own. Your post reminds me of the trouble I went through to get replacement's for the original Lucas 482 lenses that are cracked. Of interest is that original 482 lenses for TC EXU fuel tank mounted tail lights were clear glass with a coat of red "paint" or something added. Replacement lenses are rare as hens teeth, and always made of red glass, and only sold with new light assemblies. Never sold individually, lens only. I ended up finding some generic plastic lenses that could be ground down to a smaller diameter to fit.

you have searched such a part
not ready
but like this it is possible to print it

today i have damaged my fep film from the printer so i have to wait some days for next print
you see in some minutes it is possible to design such a part
ok i haven t learned it jet to make the letters, have to learn it next days, but it is easy have seen a video some days ago
much more interesting then TV
when you print it the only problem will be the points to fix the part on the printing table,
this points you have to grind and polish
i have written it
total new possibilitys to save our old cars

you want one ;-)

no
happens sometime ;-)
i just want to show what is possible
and you don't have to be a professional
I've never done this before, so I have to figure out how to edit the letters first.
now it's easy
so if a part is not available today it is possible to make a part by yourself
not original but original like

yesterday i got the fabric covered cables
I hope I ordered enough
i also got the leds white, yellow and the white/amber switchback led
the best
all will work in the sidelamp
here are some pictures

the two led lamps solution with t10 sockets

for the other solution i took the socket from the original holder, one from an old part, so nothing damaged
this holder I have fixed on a 3mm steel part at the end thread cut the hole for the cables are still missing
I will solder the two cables for direction light and parking light at teh back off the led and then connect the bullets under the fender with the bullet from the car

so again a step forward
next days i will test the direction lights on my table and i hope the with sidelamp will stop working when i use the direction light
all leds i bought can be used for positiv and negativ earth, so no problem

got some parts last days
the wires
some clips to join the wires

the dashboard lights all working now
i will not use the original screws for the middle of the dash
i will use some stainlees stell screws from the front
so it is possible to take out the middle part without problems
also the map lights and the lights form speedo and tacho are instllalled in a way that i can take out the middle without problems

as you see i will use this clips behinnd the dashboard so i can take out all really easy
if all works later i will use a professional modern car part so i have only one connection

the ignition light is now a led light from the front the original bezel
the old one wasn t an original light too, the solution now is better then the old one

the hazzard and direction lights will be the next step

Hi today no work on the car
but a friend asked me for a part he is missing
so i learned a new function with freecad
perhaps interesting for someone , so i post it here
you can see what is possible to make sitting at TV in the eveninng
never done it
2 hours reading and trying and now a file to print it
it is a double knurled knob
easy to make some change to it as you see in second picture
so if someone needs a part ;-)
and the best is
i can upload the file to your printer shop at next corner
like this it will be possible to make parts you can t buy elsewhere

after some fun with my computer and freecad i installed the relay for the positive earth dynamator
the fixing of the old ammeter was damaged
now i made it like the oil pressure gauge and could fix the relay too
two function with one screw
all close together

the dashboard fits perfect in the car, now i have to search a position for the hazzard light tool
should be a clear solution

this morning i prepared my photon printer with a new screen
after this i printed my designed knurled screw
and the result is fantasticso i want to show it that you see what is possible today
also i have learned to get a fantastic surface without any finishing
this part is after printing without any work
my mg-hobby gets a new horizon
on one side an ancient car and on the other side a state of the art technology to maintain it
so it is possible to make prototypes to test how it looks and works, and then upload the file to a professional print store to get materials you can't print yourself
metal, carbon fiber, rubber, etc.

I am still waiting for parts so it is really slow going for me
my mom has a TICad liberty and one motor is damaged
she asked the shop to fix it but 2300 is too much
so i took it and tried to disassemble it which was really difficult
did not find anything on the internet
but now i made it
a small engine for 400 euros should work more than 10 years
opened it and saw that one part was broken, material defect what else can it be, the cables are all einfahc too short for it to be repaired well
they probably don't want it - annoying
but I will do it anyway
have asked the engine manufacturer for goodwill

this afternoon I checked the wiring diagram for the turn signals again
since the car stays on ground I have to change the polarity on the module I have, but with relay it's easy.
Relay flasher unit and the warning flasher module I screwed onto an aluminum plate,
so I can screw everything back to the bulkhead.
I need to find a good position, and fix them with a threaded screw so I can easily remove them to check the wires

got the relais holder today so i could arange the parts in the cjr3 fake box

one relais for left direction lights
one relais for right direction lights
one for headlight
one for beam light
one for brake and ..
one for ignition on

in the moment i have found a little mistake, haven t had the computer in the garage when i made the wiring of the relais
the new 4 fuse box will be about 12 mm above the ground of the box so i can join the wires under the fuse box with some bullets
step by step i will find a solution for a clear wiring
all wires will be joined in the cjr2 so it will be easy to find a mistake
i hope i have enough place there

in the picture i have arranged the wires as they should be in future, only the wires leaving the box

satisfied with my work today
installed almost all wires in my fake CJR3 case
i hope everything will work, but i think so
at the moment it is not tested yet
first i wired the relays
then I soldered the bullets
then I connected the wires coming from the dashboard to the bullets so I can see that everything fits into the case
all wires coming from the interior are connected here
