Bowden Cable Routing TA/TB

Post by ferricsteed » Wed Aug 23, 2023 5:00 pm

How are the three bowden cables, tach and speedo cables run from behind the dash thru clips mounted on underside of the scuttle? I know how each pass thru the scuttle or kickplate as they enter the engine compartment but am very unsure of the routing within the cockpit. I have a good accounting of the types of clips. TC routing is well covered but I couldn't find routing for TA/TB. Thank you in advance.

I doubt there were any clips within the cockpit for the tach or speedo cables. Looking under the TC dash, the speedo cable is draped over the "coat hanger" before entering the instrument, and the tach cable is draped through the steering column bracket before entering the instrument. No need for any clips or ties of any sort, really. Scuttle mask board would help keep things orderly.

I take it you saw the service bulletin #67 (two pages) regarding speedometer instrument routing to avoid unwanted oiling?
It is a TC specific bulletin that would likely apply to the earlier cars.

Here is the scuttle from my TA1271. You can see two little P-clips on the driver's side. I don't know what their purpose was. There were no other clips under there on my car.

Also note the large tab in the center which held the under dash panel, and the coat hanger wire.
