Your houses from the 50's look like our houses from the 1800's. Our 50's houses are very, very different!

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
they had television in the 1800s in USA ?
or
an electric dishwasher
or an electric vacuum cleaner,
he also had a dictaphone with elastic magnetic disk there
i think we have had extreme developments worldwide in the last 70 years
i first had a black and white television as a child
but then quite early also a color television set
#
the first cell phones I had in 1994
then it went on stroke by stroke with the developments
because I always damage my cell phone at work
I usually have only one for 100 euros and no iPhone,
but even for 100 euros you actually have everything that is important
i am so happy with the result i have now with my TA
would like to buy a car from the 20s

I'm talking about the look of the house, not what's inside. Most homes around here in the 1950's were simple, boxy tract homes, as the American suburbs took shape. Entire neighborhoods would be built and sold to the working middle class at once, something that hadn't really happened before. This was especially taking place here in Southern California as the aerospace and tech industries were booming.
Here's an example of a brand new development and everyone moving in at once...

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
some time i would like to build a T special,
but in the moment i can t do it
my wife means we have enough cars,
she wants some new things around our house
last october i got a heat pump for our house
not a really good looking thing
a colour i don t like
got a dibond plate for a really good price
one side white the other silver.
some alu tube from the web and some screws
some epoxy bond and 2 days from my holiday
my cellar is full of mechanica tools so i made a cover for it
white dibond and behind the silver dibond side
above some plants
my wife was so happy for it so she asked me to make a cover for our trash
so i have to buy some more dibond, also i will make a cover for my work table in my MG garage
if it is clean in the garage i can make better work
Both MGs are running perfect now.
should i make two bucket seats for my TA in next winter ???

Hello
you know i am crazy
sitting on vacation at the north sea i was surfing around looking for Mg Tcs pictures
i found this one
https://ttypes.org/a-summer-and-winter-td-redux/
this is the only one i like
the style looks perfect on the car
the only thing that could be better is the side window in the back, it should be possible to slide it back in the hardtop
made a surfboard out of epoxy GRP 40 years ago
infected with this idea
you like it too ??

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
after driving the car last weeks a little bit faster i feel a little problem from the right front wheel
i checked it
a really little play from the front axle
play beetween the brake drum and the brake plate ???
i took off the wheel and the brake drum
took off the screw closiing the hole to take of the security pin holding the crown nut
the nut wasn t tight
took off all parts to have a look to the bearing,
turining around it, all seems to be ok there
i took some pictures ( for you ) before i reassembled it
we will have fine weather tomorrow, perhaps i can check it with a little ride
here a little MG problem to solve it in some minutes
my son has a Mondeo from 2015, fine car , but last days a part from the clutch pedal broke away, horrible to reach the problem
perhaps we have to take away a lot of parts to reach it
to solve the real problem will be easy
to make it in a shop will cost 500 Euro

Franz-
If the TA front hubs are like the TC front hubs, they have a habit of wearing out where the inner bearing fits into the hub. You need to check for play of the inner bearing after it is pressed in. When the front hubs are worn like that, nothing will fix it properly, except for replacent of the hubs with new.

Whilst I too think that the TC with the hardtop looks great I wonder if the owner/driver is quite short. Driving hood down makes entry and exit so much easier for a 6 foot oldy. I wonder how attachment at the rear was arranged?

A lot of years ago one of My friends built a car body with VTR and WIRE MESH with good resultsFranz Tenbrock wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 11:29 pmHello

I do not know the duration in the time !!
you need also one WOOD 1 to 1 model of the Hard Top (NOT easy to do)where you place the Wire Mesh
NOTE it must be covered by a NOT ADHESIVE protective paint If you have built a surf table sure know this particular
then you must cover it with VTR -GRP2 components plaster (min 6 mm THICK) when all is dray and solid must be reversed
and the same operation must be made to the interior-probably less thickness
and I presume that the interior must be reinforced by wood
at the perimeter and rear window + 2 or 3 centine or traverse
A lot of work will be needed to level and sand the surfaces for the successive painting

Hello
at the moment I am busy with the home electrics and smart home as it rains often outside
i will not make a form, because i don't want to start a production
i will wrap the car with foil to protect it
then I will make the mold for my hardtop with styrodur and wood, on top of it I will apply foil and release agent again, on top of it I will process the fiberglass with epoxy
and then hopefully I can separate everything again.
but that will only work when my son finally gets his Ur Mini out of the basement garage, which had some rust and on my small lifting platform he could work better there
but since he has just got engaged, there is probably not enough time.
End of November he must be out, the Ta then needs the space

Hi
some time today to watch some videos on the internet
the upper screen frame is slightly bent
I need a suitable timber, just like the fabric roof.
as I always want to test something new, I have just found a video on how to bend wood permanently.
100 degree hot steam
I then use my device to remove wallpaper
I also need a box the length of the strip I need
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynwEjuWGpGw
Sorry it s German language
let's see if I can do that,
if it works I'll also try to bend a piece of wood at the back where the roof will be put down, I wonder if that will work ????
i will order a part of this here, only some Euro and the shop is near by
https://toom.de/p/leiste-eiche-saegerau ... lsrc=aw.ds
will start in about 2 weeks,
the rover mini is still in my garage, my son is preparing his wedding next summer, so in love and less time

Hello
since it is constantly raining here, I decided to start building my hardtop today
it will be a new challenge for me
i can't get the wood i wanted to buy
so i changed a little bit
first i made a metal part
on both sides i have welded a nut on the metal bracket, about 80 degrees to the middle
so I can later attach the hardtop here to the windshield frame, just like the fabric roof.
with a roller tool that I got as a gift years ago, I was able to machine the metal bracket so that it follows the curvature of the windshield frame.
With the shrinker and strechter i had to make some little changes because the roller twisted the part

The next step is to make a wooden part at the top of the windshield
at first I wanted to make it from one piece
bend it with hot steam
but I couldn't find the right material here
so I took beech 40 x 9 mm
three parts glued together with waterproof wood glue
at the end I will fix it with 4 wood screws
I will glue the metal part to the wooden part with epoxy and secure it with wood screws
have to think about it what i will take in the back

after thinking a bit i decided to glue some plywood together
as you see its curved and not straight
so 5 pices glued together with some funny weight to press it
first try
with my bandsaw i cut some more parts, will glue them also together tomorrow when the first part is dry

Re: MG TA1932 in Germany - Blog - all problems and ...
This is an interesting project Franz. One point of interest is your fixing to the windscreen frame. With our cars normally having plenty of areas for air to escape I wonder whether the fixed hood will put extra pressure on the "pins" on the existing screen frame. Could the "trapped" air in the cabin cause this to be a problem?
