but I think I will design the rear side window a little differently
I will do it in one piece
at first i thought it might be difficult to get into the car
but it is not
the front window will be a sliding window so you can let some air in
then i tried to make the lower bead
I thought about various possibilities but somehow it all came to nothing.
if I want to make the roof with artificial leather, I should be able to remove this bead
so now I have a 4 cm wide piece of wood at the back and on the side, which I attach to the hardtop with a drive-in nut, I can't get the wood to bend like that in the corner, I'll use carbon there
I will then make the bead with a split pipe insulation which I will then coat with carbon
that's the plan
but first it's Christmas

yesterday morning I made the border
as you can see
some pieces of plywood sharpened at the end where the coal starts
attached to the hardtop with screws and drive-in nuts
I then made the corners with 4 layers of carbon and epoxy
not knowing if this can hold
but there is no load on it, at least when it is fixed
if i cover the roof with leatherette then i can fix the leatherette there without it being visible
this morning i took off the hardtop and glued on the foam half shell with construction foam
I had great experiences with it, it holds bombproof and costs almost nothing
it is also quick to work with, it only takes 2 hours until it is firm
have to grind a little bit before i can start with the next Step

also i can take leatherette and then it is smoth and it will not damage when i take the hartop off
taken it off and the corners are so hard, happy with the result
had grind it too
will order some cheap leatherette to make a template for the leatherette i will take later

after a visit to the family in Aachen
my wife's ma is 97 years old
now back at home
had tested my own epoxy cream on one side
and it works perfectly
I sanded the hardtop with a long wood
then a layer with epoxy + microballoons and thixotropi
only about 70 gr
I will see how it looks after the next sanding
now I have to wait until tomorrow
maybe the leatherette will come too
in the moment it is warm outside 12 degrees, so my garage is warm enough without a heater
my wife's ma is 97 years old

Taking the time to fill some holes with epoxy cream
I bought this before Christmas
there was a groove in the back of the roof
about 700 mm x 100 mm and maximum 2 mm deep
now it will be good
when I do something like this I will be more careful
never mind, about 100 gr of filler
funny
when I opened the box I saw red hardener
now I am happy with this color because you can see the carbon when sanding
for each step I have to wait 24 hours ...
so I am slow at the moment
one more layer with the red cream, then with gray spray filler
Taking the time to fill some holes with epoxy cream

there was a groove in the back of the roof

now it will be good

when I opened the box I saw red hardener

While I wait, I tried to make the frame of the rear side window with aluminum U-profiles
to prevent the u-profile from deforming completely i clamped it in wood and then hit it down with a hammer so the side walls of the u-profile remained as they were before
like this it works
with a professional tool it may be easyer
but like this it was able to do it too
will sold it togehter later wen

now i have 3 layers of filler
after each layer I sanded a little
but after spraying with ep primer filler
you can still see fine grooves
but now I can use polyester fine filler
it is easy to sand and dries much faster
unfortunately the EP primer hardener empty and has to be reordered
but it looks good for the moment

ast night my carport was a little damaged by the wind
so I had some work to do on the carport after work
then i took 20 minutes to grind the hardtop with watergrinding paper
now i can see the parts where i have some more work
not to much

sanded again after some filler
then I sprayed another layer of primer filler with my air gunsa
i hope tomorrow last round with filler and primer

you see every little hole against the light
when i take black paint you will see it
with the leatherette i will be good enough now
but will make it so i have both ways open

after the sanding this afternoon
thinking about priming again
or some black varnish
you can see what I used
as I'm always a bit short on patience and the lighting in the garage isn't perfect
I have produced some noses
but now I can see the places where some filler needs to be applied
not much but still
perhaps i only paint it, no leatherette ???
haven t sprayed 2 years
for that it is ok

With respect, I think your skills are better suited to a fabric finish.

yesterday I put the cheap leatherette with the wrong side on the car and tried to make a template
the fabric is not really elastic
but it was worth a try
after two hours of sewing with my hands I had made it
maybe this will work
after waiting two years for my old new sewing machine, I developed something for it
the first owner told me that it is very difficult to work slowly with it
so she sold it very cheaply
i made 2 additional lever arms to control the motor, so it now has a foot control that is much more sensitive
yesterday I put the cheap leatherette with the wrong side on the car and tried to make a template

today we got some snow, so no more painting in my garage, it is to cold
so i gave the leatherette a chance
I took the pattern and sewed it with my new machine
after developing it works perfectly, so I could do it
then I took the leatherette and put it on the car

but I will leave it like this for now, put the window in the back and fix it to the b pillar, then finish the windows and and and
next week I'll get a few more leatherette samples
like this it looks good for the moment

it will be bad
the back window i will fix when i get the tenax

I have found a solution for the rear side windows
I have sewn a black leatherette triangle
some foam underneath
I still had chrome cover strips that can be mounted concealed, so I can now attach the black leatherette without a seam or screws visible
i don t like the chrome with the aluminum, perhaps i paint the aluminium black
but for the moment it is ok
like this i can make both sides
still waiting for the back window frame
so step by step
I couldn't find any instructions on the web

have made it now 3 times,
now it is better
have to make a new one for the back on this side,
i will make it a little bit different
if you know how to do it it is easy
if you have no template it is difficult
now i can use my sewkey 355 as it should be
i had some trouble with it
the chrome part is now over the aluminum part, i think it is better like this
perhaps i will paint all aluminium parts black

cold in my garage
replaced the chrome on the rear window
also fixed the Tenax
so you can see how I will secure it to the hardtop
i hope you understand it

perhaps i will make the same for the front window, only in the back where the turrning point is
left side nearly ready, i only have to cut the window glas for the split pane
every time i go in my garage i am so happy to see the car with the hardtop on the way to be ready

what is with the gap at the top of the door?
I'm going to make a piece of leatherette that reaches up to the top of the side window or 1cm below
in the original it is the gray part
but if you look to the original i can t see how the front side window it installed
it follows the line of the door
but what is at the front window there you can t see anything
