There are three captured nuts on the bottom of the TC battery box, the center one is to hold clamps below the box, are the two outside nuts for rods which anchor the battery? And would anyone be able to post a picture here of what the upper battery cradle looks like?

Yes, a couple of rods to secure a batten over the battery. Not sure waht was original, but this works.

Tim, you must have great faith in the durability of the insulation on that wire running from one battery terminal to the other!
I like to run a large lead/acid battery. A 24 fits nicely, and the built in handle allows easier in/out with the bonnet in place. This battery has 650 cold cranking amps and works very nicely with the stock starter motor and voltage regulator and dynamo.
